{{#category_index:N|null}} Zero. A null measurement is one in which a balance is indicated by some quantity becoming zero, such as the current in one arm of a bridge circuit. The magnitude of the balancing ‘‘force’’ is then proportional to the quantity to be measured. For example, spring tension balances out the gravitational force in a gravimeter, the balance condition being indicated by null deflection.
