Two or more sources at nearby locations that are activated simultaneously. Used to decrease ground roll, to produce a directional wave, to build up the strength of the downgoing wave, etc. The objectives are thus similar to the use of multiple geophones (q.v.). Also includes the situation in which sources are activated sequentially and the results are stacked vertically.
