{{#category_index:M|magnetic dipole moment}} The strength of a magnetic dipole (a vector). Amplitude given (in SI units) by m=n/A where n is number of coil turns (if applicable), I is effective electric current and A is effective loop area. The direction is normal to the plane of the current loop with the sense given by a right-handed screw turning with the current. In magnetized materials the magnetic dipole moment is produced by the aggregate effect of unpaired electron orbitals. See magnetic dipole and also magnetization.
