One of several U.S. government long-range pulse-type electronic positioning systems phased-out by the Global Positioning System (q.v.); see Figure L-10. Hyperbolic lines of position were determined by measuring differences in the times of reception of synchronized pulse signals from fixed transmitters at known geographic positions.
