{{#category_index:L|level}} 1. A survey device used to ascertain which point on a survey rod is at the same elevation as the instrument. 2. Amplitude, as in ‘‘a potentiometer controls the voltage level.’’ 3. A track on digital magnetic tape, as in ‘‘7-level recording’’ where seven magnetic heads spaced across the tape width record seven bits of information at one time (i.e., in one byte).
