An ℓρ (q.v.) fit with ρ=1. The ℓ1 fit is the least mean deviation solution of a problem and corresponds to the maximum-likelihood estimate when the errors have a Laplace (double exponential) distribution. The best ℓ1 estimate to a set of numbers is the median.
