(kep’ l∂r) The quantities that describe the elliptical orbit of a satellite with respect to the celestial sphere. Navigation satellites often broadcast their Kepler coordinates and ephemeral information which allows the calculation of their location at any given instant (see Figure K-1). Named for Johann Kepler (1571–1630), German astronomer.
