FIG. S-31. Syslap method. (a) Explosion in center hole generates mainly P-waves. (b) Because of the asymmetry produced by the explosion in the center hole, the explosion in the right hole generates S-waves as well as P-waves. (c) The left hole produces P-waves plus S-waves of polarity opposite to those from the right hole.
