The use of part of the output of a system as a partial input. Negative feedback, where part of the output is fed out-of-phase into the input, attenuates variations for self-correcting or control purposes. Used in AGC systems. Positive feedback, where a portion of the output is fed in-phase into the input, is used to produce oscillation.
