1. Color arbitrarily assigned to values; pseudocolor. 2. Specifically, the use of colors to represent different frequency bands (or other measurable characteristics) where the colors are not those naturally characteristic. For example, infrared differences displayed as parts of the visible spectrum on satellite imagery.
