A direct modeling scheme in which the model surfaces are assumed to explode at time zero with explosive strengths proportional to their reflectivity; velocities are cut in half so that the one-way traveltime to the surface equals the two-way traveltime for coincident source-receiver pairs at the surface. A form of wave-theory modeling.
