{{#category_index:E|even function}}

A function that has the same value when the sign of the variable is changed; i.e., f(x)=f(–x). The Fourier transform of an even function is the cosine transform; its frequency-domain representation is zero phase. Any function can be represented as an even part plus an odd part. Aeromagnetic anomalies are sometimes separated into even and odd parts for interpretation. Antonym: odd function.
