{{#category_index:E|electrode polarization}} 1. In electrochemistry, an electrode is polarized if its potential deviates from the reversible or equilibrium value. 2. Polarization also can be induced because of the passage of current through an interface or to a change in ion concentration at an electrode surface. The amount of extra polarization is the overvoltage or induced polarization of the electrode.
