1. In electrochemistry, the total impedance across the interface between an electrode and an electrolyte. The equivalent-circuit model includes solution resistance, capacitances in the fixed and diffuse layers, and Warburg impedance. 2. In electrical-circuit theory, the self-impedance of a single electrode or the mutual-impedance between electrodes.
