{{#category_index:D|drillstem test}}
A procedure for determining the potential productivity of a reservoir while the drillstem and mud are in the uncased borehole. The tool includes packers to isolate the section to be tested, a chamber to collect the formation fluid, and a pressure-measuring device. After the packer is set, a port on the tool allows the trapped pressure to bleed off, exposing the formation to atmospheric pressure and allowing the well to produce. Hydrostatic, flow, and shut-in pressures are recorded.
