1. The Bouguer correction (q.v.) to sea level for measurements made on the ocean floor involves a correction to replace the upward attraction of the sea water above the meter with the replacement density of rock. 2. Corrections for measurements made in mines or in boreholes, usually involving measurements made both above and below a layer.
