Device used (a) to detonate an explosive charge by sending an electric current through a blasting cap and (b) to transmit the time-break to the recording unit. Usually also includes (c) a current-limited ohm-meter for checking the blasting circuit, (d) phone or radio for communication with the recording unit, and (e) connections for the uphole geophone.
