(ber nū’ lē) An equation describing the conservation of energy in the steady flow of an ideal frictionless, incompressible fluid:

where P=pressure, ρ=density, g=acceleration of gravity, h=height, and V=fluid velocity. Named for Daniel Bernoulli (1700–1782), Swiss physicist.
