{{#category_index:B|Beaman arc}} (bē’ man) A unit of measure of the quantity 50 (1+sin2α) used in calculating vertical displacement of a stadia rod with respect to the transit, where α is the angle which the line of sight makes with the horizontal. See also stadia tables. Named for William M. Beaman (1867–1937), American engineer.
