{{#category_index:B|baked test}}
Because remanent magnetism is destroyed by heating to high temperatures, the heated country rock adjacent to an intrusive should have the same remanent direction as the intrusive (appropriate to that of the time of the intrusion) but different from unheated country rock (which should be indicative of the time of formation of the country rock). Checking that this is so is called the ‘‘baked test.’’
