(bok’ ∂s) An inverse filter that removes the effects of reverberation involving a simple water bottom. The filter's z-transform expression is
where k is the water-bottom reflection coefficient and qts is the two-way traveltime through the water layer if ts is the sample interval. See Backus (1959).
