(ar kē, ō log’ i k∂l) A survey sometimes required to determine if a cultural resource is present, especially on U.S. offshore leases. Often requires high-resolution sub-bottom profiler, magnetometer, sidescan sonar, and echo sounder data. See also geohazard survey.
