1926 by Petty Geophysical Engineering Company. This unit was smaller, lighter, and more rugged than the prototype detector developed in 1925. The detector, oscillator, amplifier, and batteries are housed in one case. These detectors were used extensively on seismic crews in South America and the U. S. Gulf Coast in the late 1920's. These units were more sensitive than mechanical seismographs and thus smaller charges of dynamite could be used to generate the vibrations needed with seismic exploration.
