SEISMOGRAPH DETECTOR. Designed and manufactured by Rufus H. Hooks or Hooks Exploration Co. in 1934 for use in refraction surveys. It is of the inductive type and connected to amplifier in the recording truck by transformer located in detector case. The electromagnet is energized by a 90 volt battery located in the recording truck. Damping is both magnetic and fluid. The un-damped period of the suspended mass is plus or minus 3 cycles per second. Mass is balanced for vertical movement. Handle to release mass on top of case. Total weight 23 Pounds.
