Biography

Atish Roy received a B.S. (2005) in physics from the University of Calcutta and an M.S. (2007) in applied geophysics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. After working for two years as a processing geophysicist at Paradigm Geophysical, India, in 2009 he began his doctoral studies at the University of Oklahoma. There he did research in the Attribute-Assisted Seismic Processing and Interpretation (AASPI) research consortium led by Kurt J. Marfurt. His research developed algorithms and workflows for unsupervised, supervised, and probabilistic seismic facies classification using multiattribute data. He received his Ph.D. in geophysics in the fall of 2013.

Roy is now working at BP as a geophysical analyst in the research and development group. His research interests include 3D seismic attributes, pattern classification, seismic facies analysis, and subsurface imaging.[1]
