Alan Levander is a geology and geophysics professor at Rice University.

Biography
Alan R. Levander received a BS in geology from the University of South Carolina, and an MS (1978) and PhD (1984) in geophysics from Stanford University. He worked as a geophysicist for Gulf Research & Development Co. from 1981 to 1984. Since 1984 he has been a professor in the Geology/Geophysics Dept. at Rice University. His research interests include seismic modeling and processing, and crustal seismology.[1]
Awards
B. S. Gibson and A. R. Levander received 1990 Honorable Mention (Geophysics) for their paper Apparent layering in common-midpoint stacked images of two-dimensionally heterogeneous targets.[2]
