William R. Sill received a B.S. degree in geology from Michigan State University in 1960 and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in geophysics from MIT in 1963 and 1967, respectively. In 1960 and 1961 he worked part time as an exploration geophysicist for Jones and Laughlin Steel Co. In the period from 1962 to 1967, he worked part-time for Geoscience Inc. and the planetary science department of Avco. From 1967 to 1971 he worked for Bellcomm Inc. in the fields of lunar and planetary sciences. He joined the faculty of the University of Utah in 1971 and is currently a research professor.
