The SEG Bucharest Student Chapter 2020 Field Camp entitled [https://seg2020romula.wordpress.com/ “Archaeological geophysics for sustainable local community development: Ancient Roman town Romula”] was organized in Resca village, Olt county, on September 4th – September 13th, being our first geophysical field camp in the field of archaeology. The main purpose of this field camp was the delineation of both the ancient central fortification of the city of Romula and of the elements of which it was formed, walls, roads, houses. This was achieved by conducting the first integrated investigation attempt of an archaeological macrostructure in Romania, using various geophysical and archaeological methods, such as electrometry, gravimetry and magnetometry. Another important objective was to facilitate the sustainable development of the local community in the region, for this is a very poor and underdeveloped part of Romania. Our goal is to include this archaeological site in the UNESCO World Heritage List. On September 4th, an Icebreaker took place, where we had the chance to meet the participants, make friends and present the plans regarding the field camp. Ștefan Cătălin Crăciun, former president of SEG, introduced the participants to the investigated area, the geophysical methods that will be used in the field and the equipment that we will use. Various geophysical methods were used in the data collection process, such as magnetometric, gravimetric, geoelectrical surveys, but also Topographic surveys, Aerial Photogrammetry and Geographical Information System (GIS). In the end, we received positive feedback from the participants expressing their gratitude for participating in our field camp. Although there was a pandemic context, we made sure that we did not violate the restrictions imposed, keeping the distance between participants, wearing surgical masks and regularly using disinfectants, especially before and after using the field equipment. Following the analysis of the data recorded from the field camp, we organized a data processing workshop, on 12th December 2020, where we processed and interpreted the electrometric, magnetometric, gravimetric, paleomagnetic and topographic data. This event was attended by 29 students, both from the Faculty of Geology and Geophysics and from other faculties, from the country or abroad, students who took part in a unique experience of interpreting the data recorded in our field camp.

SEG Bucharest Student Chapter organized the third edition of the project "Promoting geophysics in high schools" on 26th September 2020, within the Faculty of Geology and Geophysics in a secluded and safe environment, considering the global pandemic context that was an impediment in the normal process of development of the project. Here we spoke about the field of geosciences and the benefits of joining a society such as SEG. Through this project we managed to introduce to some high school students and freshmen the basic knowledge of geology and geophysics, presenting them future career opportunities that they can follow if they choose to pursue this vast field, but also about the opportunities that can be offered through SEG.

Furthermore, starting with the year 2020, our former president Alexandru Badescu, became an ambassador of the SEG Evolve program. He was selected to be the local point of contact for Romania and Austria. His main activity is to promote the SEG EVOLVE training program to universities and companies as well.

Additionally, last year we decided to create a LinkedIn account to develop the way we promote the SEG Bucharest Student chapter, as well as all the activities organized by the Society of Exploration Geophysicists. This account is administrated by all the officers from our board.

At the end of the year, between 7th and 16th December 2020, our chapter president Andreea Maria Pavel initiated a project based on the organization of charitable activities for unfavored communities of people. All the chapter's officers were involved in the organization of this activity. Donations were received from students and students' families and were represented by food, school supplies and personal hygiene products. After we ended the campaign, we decided to help the families from the SOS Children's Villages organization. This activity had an extremely positive impact, being appreciated by a considerable number of people. The positive feedback and those happy faces we saw gave us enough reasons to continue the project.

During 2020 a friendship was created between our chapter and SEG Naples Student Chapter, the officers of our chapter helping their officers with advice. Also, we started a collaboration with SEG BHOS Student Chapter, our president, Andreea Maria Pavel, being accepted in their two-month program called "Geophysics School" for students from Azerbaidjan, Ukraine and Romania.

The SEG Student Field Camp entitled [https://segsacel2017.wordpress.com/ „ Extracting subsurface physical properties from natural Earth responses”] took place in Sacel village located in the North of Romania at nearly 40 km south of Ukraine border, in the S-E part of Maramureş County. The Field Camp started on 4th of September and the geological survey and data acquisition ended on 11th of September. Twenty participants from Poland, Romania and Ukraine were involved in the [https://segsacel2017.wordpress.com/ 2017 SEG Field Camp]. The main achievements of the Field Camp consisted in realizing a successful training of geophysical and geochemical methods in order to obtain physical properties, lithological and structural subsurface information and also in showing to the local communities/authorities the non-destructive character of using geophysical measurements, especially shallow seismic reflection measurements. The project ended with two workshops that took place in Bucharest. Furthermore, Alexandru Badescu, and Cristina Ruse, a SEG member for many years, took part in the 2017 SEG Annual Meeting. Alexandru attended the [https://seg.org/Education/Student/Student-Programs/Student-Leadership-Symposium SLS/Chevron Student Leadership Symposium] while Cristina took part in the [https://seg.org/Education/Student/Student-Programs/Student-Education-Program SEP/ExxonMobil Student Education Program] where they got into contact with professionals from O&G and enhance their skills.

Furthermore, Stefan Catalin Craciun, our former president, participated in the 2020 [https://seg.org/Education/Student/Student-Programs/Student-Leadership-Symposium SLS/Chevron Student Leadership Symposium] and attended the different presentations held at the annual meeting. This opportunity allowed Stefan to improve his leadership skills and to network and create connections with other student chapters. SLS is a great opportunity to begin new friendships and to talk about future partnerships that SEG Bucharest Student Chapter could establish with other SEG Student Chapters. For this event, Stefan created a video presentation of our chapter and a poster presenting our activities, which were made available for all the people at the annual meeting to view.

Another SEG member, Sonia Sortan, attended in the middle of October, 2017 the AAPG and SEG International Conference & Exhibition 2017 in London, UK, one of the most important Geosciences events of the year. The poster presented within the special session Next Generation – Students and Young Professionals was entitled „Magnetic Fabric and Paleomagnetic Study of the Calimani Mountains Pyroclastic Deposits” (East Carpathians, Romania). Morosan Ana Maria is another member of our chapter who participated in a SEG activity. She was one of the 21 participants in the SEG 2017 Field Camp in Ukraine during 22-29 August 2017.  Last but not least, six members of the SEG Bucharest Student Chapter have been awarded by the SEG Scholarship Committee for their outstanding academic results and involvement.
+
Two former SEG Bucharest Student Chapter presidents, Catalina Lacatusu and Catalin Alexandru Maric, have been selected to be a part of the SEG European Committee Board. There, they had the chance to be involved in the organization of events, such as the 3rd SEG Virtual Student Conference, in which Catalin Alexandru Maric participated as chair for the Case Studies Section. Also, at the beginning of 2020, we created an SEG Wiki page for our chapter, where we put all of our activities starting from 2017. We plan to keep adding new information to our wiki and make available all the information and data we gathered from our past SEG field. Last but not least, the former president of the SEG Bucharest Student Chapter, Stefan Catalin Craciun, has been awarded by the SEG Scholarship Committee for his outstanding academic results and involvement.

The SEG Bucharest Student Chapter 2020 Field Camp entitled “Archaeological geophysics for sustainable local community development: Ancient Roman town Romula” was organized in Resca village, Olt county, on September 4th – September 13th, being our first geophysical field camp in the field of archaeology.

Furthermore, Stefan Catalin Craciun, our former president, participated in the 2020 SLS/Chevron Student Leadership Symposium and attended the different presentations held at the annual meeting.

The SEG Student Field Camp entitled „Hydrogeophysical investigation of the environmental hazards from the Romanian Black Sea coastline” took place in Vama Veche village located in the South-East of Romania at nearly 1 km north of the Bulgarian border, in Constanța County. The Field Camp started on the 24th of August and the geological survey and data acquisition ended on the 2nd of September. Twenty participants from Poland and Romania were involved in the 2019 SEG Field Camp (3 Polish and 17 Romanian with a 1 to 1 female to male ratio). The main achievements of the Field Camp consisted in identifying the line between the brackish water intrusion and the Sarmatian freshwater aquifer, showing how important is to integrate several geophysical methods combined with geological data in order to obtain the best interpretation and also in showing to the local communities/authorities the non-destructive character, efficiency and minimal costs of geophysical measurements, especially the electric and magnetic measurements. Also, during this field camp, we visited various social and cultural places in Bucharest, had an icebreaker where we had the chance to get acquainted with each other and network. The project ended with a workshop that took place in Bucharest. On the 23rd of November SEG Bucharest Student Chapter organized a one-day geophysical workshop called “Geophysical Workshop- Vama Veche data processing”.

The SEG Outreach Program took place in Politehnica Park and Vacaresti Park on the 25th of May and the 1st of June. After a brief introduction of the geophysical methods the high school students would apply we went on the field where we sat up a little survey so all the people could do their own measurements and find the biggest anomaly. Furthermore, Anca Oana Stancescu, our student officer, participated in the 2019 SEG Annual Meeting in San Antonia, Texas. Also, we had a team composed of 4 students from our faculty and a student from Bombay Institute of Technology, India who participated in the SEG EVOLVE program. Catalina Lacatusu, our chapter officer participated in an SEG field camp organized by the Kyiv Student Chapter.
