History
The Student Chapter was established in 30 July 2008 by Gustavo Carstens, member of SEG Membership Committee and Secretary of the Argentina Association of Petroleum Geologists and Geophysicists (AAGGP).

Meetings
The Student Chapter has regular meetings where lectures are given with a focus on creating a link between academia and industry. Since 2008, geoscientists from several companies and universities around the country have participated in these interesting talks.
SEG/Chevron Student Leadership Symposium
Since 2007, the officers of our Student Chapter have been selected to participate in the SEG/Chevron Student Leadership Symposium.
SEG/ExxonMobil Student Education Program
Since 2007, the officers of our Student Chapter have been selected to participate in the SEG/ExxonMobil Student Education Program.
SEG Challenge Bowl
The Student Chapter has participated in this contest since 2008. We had the opportunity to participate several times in the regional Challenge Bowl, after winning the national instance, and three times in the final contest. We won the Final instance two times in a row: 2018 (Anaheim, California) and 2019 (San Antonio, Texas).
Geoscientists Without Borders
The Student Chapter participated of the project “Groundwater resources for small rural and aboriginal communities in Chaco province, Argentina” led by Prof. Dr Luis Guarracino. The project started the 1rst of april of 2015 and finished in 2018. The final results were presented during the 2018 SEG International Exposition and 88th Annual Meeting.
