Biography 1997[1]

Matthijs W. Haartsen received his MS (1989) from Delft University of Technology and his PhD (1995) from MIT in geophysics. Currently, he is a postdoctoral fellow at the Earth Resources Laboratory at MIT. His scientific interests include reservior/borehole geophysics, in particular coupled electromagnetic and acoustic wavefields in porous media, electrochemistry, electrical and hydraulic transport phenomena, and physical properties of porous rocks.

Honorable Mention (Geophysics) 1997

Oleg V. Mikhailov, Matthijs W. Haartsen, and M. Nafi Toksöz received 1997 Honorable Mention (Geophysics) for their paper Electroseismic investigation of the shallow subsurface: Field measurements and numerical modeling.[2]
