Ludmila Adam received her BSc in Geophysical Engineering from Simon Bolivar University (Venezuela), after which she worked for the oil and gas joint venture SINCOR. She pursued her postgraduate studies at Colorado School of Mines, first in the Reservoir Characterization Project for an MSc, and then at the Center for Rock Abuse for a PhD. After completing her PhD work, she dedicated most of her time to her kids, but with a part-time research position at Boise State University. In 2012 she joined the School of Environment at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. Ludmila’s research involves squeezing quantitative information out of any rock type from hydrocarbons to volcanoes, and she loves communicating about geosciences to people from 5 and 90 years old!
