The lowermost systems tract above a type-2 sequence boundary (see sequence boundary). Characterized by weak progradation to aggradation as one goes upward, onlaping of an underlying highstand tract in the landward direction, and downlaping in the seaward direction. A transgressive tract usually overlies the shelf-margin tract. See Figure S-32.
