Seismic waves are of several types: (a) two types of body waves: P-waves and S-waves; (b) several types of boundary waves or surface waves: Rayleigh waves, pseudo-Rayleigh waves or ground roll, Love waves, Scholte waves, Stoneley waves, tube waves; (c) channel waves. There are also (d) air waves and shock waves=Mach effect, and (e) standing waves=stationary waves. See individual italicized entries.
