模拟信息可以以几种形式写在磁带上。 在直接或偏差记录中，磁化强度（更小的恒定偏差）与FM中的输入成正比或frequency modulation (q.v.) 信息由载波频率的变化携带，在 pulse-width modulation (q.v.) 通过方波脉冲宽度的变化。 见图M-16.
