Biography 1989 [1]

Bok S. Byun received his B.S. (1967) in mining engineering from Seoul National University, Korea, and his M.S (1973) and Ph.D (1975) in geophysics from Texas A&M University. From 1976 to 1978, he was a research geophysicist with Gulf Research and Development Co., and joined ARCO Oil and Gas in 1978 as a senior research geophysicist. He is currently director of geophysical interpretation techniques in the Exploration Research Dept. at ARCO. His area of research includes seismic data processing and interpretation techniques. Dr. Byun is a member of SEG, EAEG, DGS, KIME, and KSEA.


Honorable Mention (Geophysics) 1990

B. S. Byun and D. Corrigan received 1990 Honorable Mention (Geophysics) for their paper Seismic traveltime inversion for transverse isotropy.[2]
