This help series aims to provide you with the skills necessary to get started. We have completed help videos on launching your very own user page, growing articles in our biographies section, and advanced tutorials on evolving current entries and layering the science with articles new to the wiki.

We have recently updated the SEG Wiki and the look of the new site does not match the videos. All of the information is still relevant; however, instead of using the "Edit" tab, click on the "Edit source" tab.

How to add your user profile

In this tutorial we will go over how to create a user profile, upload a photo, and add an image to this page.

Create your own profile

  1. To access your user page, first make sure to login to SEG's single sign-on system (SSO) using your login credentials
  2. Copy the wiki text below to create the template for your own user page.
  3. After copying the text, click here to paste the text (click on Create on top right).
    1. Visit Andrew's user page for a completed example.
  4. Add your own personal information under each category

Information can include:

  • Volunteer role, companies or professional affiliations
  • Expertise, topics of interest
  • One question about the wiki

Improving Sheriff's Dictionary

We have recently updated the SEG Wiki and the look of the new site does not match the videos. All of the information is still relevant; however, instead of using the "Edit" tab, click on the "Edit source" tab. In this tutorial, I am going to walk you through how to make improvements to Robert Sheriff’s Encyclopedic Dictionary.

This is an advanced tutorial. I encourage you to be familiar with the topics discussed in “How to add your user profile” and “Improving SEG biographies” before watching this video. This will be a two-part video. In the first part I will discuss how to add equations to the Dictionary entries. In the second part I will discuss how to add missing figures and references.
